Email Notifications
Connect with Your Student’s Education!
Click “Email Notification” to set your email preferences. You can determine how often you want to receive the information you identify below. Note that some do not apply to elementary students*. You then type in the email addresses where you would like the information sent. To enter multiple addresses, use a comma to separate each. The choices are:
- Summary of current grades and attendance*
- Detailed report showing all assignments for each class*
- Detailed report of attendance
- School announcements
- Balance alert
We are not currently utilizing the balance alert portion of the PowerSchool system except to notify patrons if the cash account for lunch purchases falls below $5.00. It does not track the number of lunches purchases or remaining. The Waukee Community Schools Nutrition Department is not using the PowerLunch part of the PowerSchool program. We are working on keeping the number of lunches and cash account balance updated via an import from the lunch system. To check the number of lunches remaining, click on the $ icon. Please note, the Balance Alert box is currently used for the cash account balance only.
Remember to click on Submit when you have completed your requests.
Email Notification
The Email Notification page allows you as a parent to set up notifications or updates from PowerSchool to be sent automatically to your personal e-mail account at home or at work. This page requires quite a lot of configuration on your part to set up these email notifications.
There are four areas that need to defined or set up for email notifications to start being sent to your personal e-mail account.
The first item you need to configure is the type of information your want sent to you. You have 5 options to choose from. (note the more you select the more email you will recieve)
Summary of current grades and attendance -
Sends out one e-mail giving a summary of final grade and attendance totals for each of your students classes.
Detailed reports showing all assignment scores for each class -
Sends out one email for each class with each assignment for the quarter with scores. (note if your student has 6 classes you will recieve 6 e-mails, one for each class.)
Detailed report of attendance -
Sends out an e-mail containing detailed attendance for each class they are enrolled in for the current term.
School announcements -
Sends out an e-mail containing your school’s current annoucements. (Not all schools are currently using PowerSchool to do their school announcements. You may want to contact your students school to see if they use it or not.)
Balance Alert -
Sends out an e-mail indicating that your student is currently low on lunch funds. (Please note that we currently do not use this feature. If you have signed up for this feature and you recieve an email please disregard it.)
The second item you need to configure is How often you want these e-mails sent to you. You have 5 options to choose from.
- Never
- Once a week
- Once every two weeks
- Once a month
- Daily
The next item, Send Now, allows you to have these e-mails sent to your e-mail account now. At any time you can come into this screen and check this box and click the submit button to have these e-mails sent. (Note even though it says now it make take some time due to the server being busy doing other work. As soon as the server has the free time it will send out the e-mails you choose.)Finally you need to configure what e-mail accounts you want these e-mails sent to. Type in the e-mail address of the account that you want e-mail sent to. You can have these e-mails sent to multiple e-mail accounts by simply seperating the multiple e-mail accounts with a comma. (Please note it is highly recommended that you verify your e-mail address with your Internet service provider before entering it here. We currently have many e-mails returned because e-mail accounts are entered incorrectly)
